We recently had the privilege of working on this 2023 BMW M440i, focusing on enhancing its appearance and protecting it against the daily wear of commutes on Dallas-Fort Worth highways. The owner opted for a matte paint protection film for its robust protection and sleek, modern look.

Prior to installation, we conducted a thorough inspection of this M440i's paint. This essential step helps us identify any repainted panels, allowing us to implement appropriate techniques during film installation if needed. Our examination confirmed the BMW's paint was indeed factory-original.

Hint: A clean title or "no accidents reported" classification in a vehicle history report such as CARFAX does not guarantee that the vehicle hasn't undergone a cosmetic or structural repair like a repaint job. Accidents and repairs are only reported to vehicle history services if they are filed with insurance companies, police departments, or other reporting agencies, so a clean history report does not guarantee a factory-original paint.

We installed paint protection film on the entire body, employing techniques that ensure a seamless, factory-like matte finish. We then applied CARPRO CQUARTZ Skin ceramic coating over the film, enhancing its dirt repellence, slickness, and UV resistance. Each step of the film process is detailed below, showcasing the care and expertise we bring to every project:

  • We conceal the edges of the PPF under the hood to achieve maximum protection without invisible seams.

    Hood

  • Tucking the film under the hood hides the edges where dirt and grime typically collect

    Hood

  • With our expert installations, the paint protection film on the fenders becomes virtually undetectable.

    Fenders

  • We tuck the edges of the PPF around the upper edges of the fender for a virtually undetectable installation.

    Fenders

  • This fender's design allowed us to conceal the edge of the film within this specific section.

    Fenders

  • This sharp corner is among the few areas where the edge of the paint protection film is noticeable, but for a good reason.

    Fenders

  • We used a pre-cut kit on the front bumper of this 2023 BMW M440i.

    Front Bumper

  • We removed the BMW emblem to wrap underneath it, concealing the film's edge.

    Front Bumper

  • PPF cannot be tucked into the seam where the fender meets the bumper, as the space between them is not wide enough.

    Front Bumper

  • We tuck the PPF around all four door edges to achieve a factory-like finish, it's like the film isn't even there.

    Doors

  • Removing the door handles enables us to achieve a clean and seamless installation.

    Doors

  • After the installation of the window trims, the paint protection film becomes invisible.

    Doors

  • If the window trims are difficult to remove, we delicately lift them and carefully insert the film underneath.

    Doors

  • We used a pre-cut kit to wrap the door handles of this BMW M440i.

    Doors

  • In our installations, we meticulously tuck the edges as much as possible, which is why the film looks like it is never there.

    Quarter Panel

  • Implementing a multi-stage cleaning and surface preparation is crucial for achieving flawless installations.

    Quarter Panel

  • Without any exposed edges, there is less opportunity for dirt and grime to accumulate at the panel edges.

    Quarter Panel

  • By tucking edges, we eliminate crevices where grime gets stuck.

    Quarter Panel

  • Our meticulous trimming skills guarantee the film hugs every contour flawlessly.

    Quarter Panel

  • Tucking the PPF underneath the windshield gasket not only protects the edges but also ensures a seamless installation.

    A-pillar

  • A-pillar

  • Wrapping this inner section of the A-pillar protects the paint from marring, as it is continuously in contact with the soft top.

    A-pillar

  • Since PPF does not heat shrink like vinyl, it is necessary to trim the corners for a permanent installation.

    Trunk

  • We carefully craft a subtle radius at each corner, ensuring the film hugs the contours.

    Trunk

  • We take the extra step of removing moldings for a factory-perfect PPF finish, a testament to our dedication to detail.

    Trunk

  • Once we meticulously reinstall the moldings, it's like the PPF was never there.

    Trunk

  • Concealing the edges of the PPF requires the removal of the BMW emblem and rear camera.

    Trunk

  • After the emblem is put back in its place, it is as if the PPF is never there.

    Trunk

  • We used a pre-cut kit on the rear bumper, considering its specific design.

    Rear Bumper

  • The pre-cut kit covers the deck area of the rear bumper.

    Rear Bumper

  • The tight gap between the rear bumper and the quarter doesn't allow us to tuck the film into the gap, and technically, it's not a good idea to do so.

    Rear Bumper

  • With our expert trimming, we ensure the installation is as invisible as possible.

    Rear Bumper

  • The PPF on the rocker panels is tucked into the door jamb to conceal the edge of the film.

    Rocker Panels

  • Tucking the film into tight gaps is not a recommended practice, as the movements and/or thermal expansion of panels can lead to local peeling.

  1. Here are 6 reasons why signing up for notifications regarding the availability of this BMW M440i makes perfect sense:
    Factory-original paint

Before PPF installation, we meticulously examined the paint of this 4-series and confirmed that it is factory-original, with none of the body panels having been repainted. If you’re in the market for a M440i with OEM paint, this might be the right one for you.

    Built-in paint protection

This 4-series is equipped with a full-body paint protection film, setting it apart as a more valuable option in the market. A very high percentage of this BMW’s body is within the high-impact zone, making paint protection film a valuable addition to this vehicle.

    Impeccably maintained

Commitment to keeping a car’s aesthetics in excellent condition usually translates into adherence to timely services, including oil changes. Investing in full-body PPF indicates a desire to protect that investment, suggesting that this 4-series with such protection is likely better maintained and in superior condition than others.

    More accurate paint history

Before PPF installation, we meticulously examined this BMW’s paintwork to ensure it is free from any repairable imperfections or contaminants. This process not only allows us to verify the paint’s authenticity at present but also enables us to identify any instances of repainting or rewrapping that may occur in the future.

    Matte finish

The matte paint protection film lends this BMW a distinctive, contemporary look. Here’s a pro tip: If you’re considering a matte finish for your next car, it’s better to start with a glossy finish. You can change the gloss finish to matte with clear PPF, not vice versa.

    Option to revert to gloss

While this BMW is equipped with a matte paint protection film, it is a removable installation. If you or the next owner do not particularly prefer a matte finish, you can switch back to a gloss by getting the matte paint protection film removed.

    1. Before installing the paint protection film, we observed a few minor rock chips on the front end. These chips were barely noticeable, and we chose not to perform any touch-ups on them.
