What Is RestorFX®

RestorFX® is the most advanced paint restoration and correction technology on the market today. It is not a polish, it is not a ceramic coating. It is a two-part professionally-applied automotive clear-coat that chemically adheres to the original paint, permanently repairs the imperfections and delivers a  showroom-quality shine. RestorFX® delivers the best of both worlds to used-car owners. It is much more cheaper, faster, and risk-free than automotive painting, and dramatically more effective and faster than traditional detailing.

Why Choose It

Clear-coats form the outermost layer of automotive paint and make the paint glossy. Due to wear-and-tear, however, they gradually lose their gloss. On an average 2-year old vehicle, 30% to 80% of clear-coat imperfections can be removed with traditional paint correction (i.e. buffing, polishing), which is a "subtractive" method though. RestorFX®, however, is an "additive technology". It forms an additional clear-coat layer which provides extra protection, repairs 95-to-100% of the clear-coat imperfections and restores the paint back to a showroom shine.

Which Cars Need It

Every day thousands of cars are processed by RestorFX® Service Centers worldwide. In the first two years of a new car, the quantity and scale of paint imperfections are usually not very noticeable, especially if the car is not black. However, a 3-month old car with rental or loaner background can have a much rougher paint than a 5-year weekend car, and get RestorFX'd.

How It Works

The mechanism of action is more complicated than seen here. Before application, every square inch of the exterior paint is wet-sanded with a fine-grit disc. Deep local scratches need deeper sanding though. Wet sanding - partially or entirely - removes the scratched, scuffed, etched, etc. portion of the clear coat. The prepping process continues with chemical decontamination. After 5-to-8 hour-long prepping, RestorFX® clear-coat is applied by certified technicians. It fills-in the remaining damage and creates a 5-to-10 micron thick super-glossy clear-coat.

Is It a Ceramic Coating

Other than being permanent coatings, clear-coating and ceramic coating have very little in common. RestorFX® is a 100% "organic" clear-coating, whereas ceramic coatings are "hybrid" coatings, which means they are organic-inorganic mixtures. Ceramic coatings cannot restore or correct a paint, whereas RestorFX® is primarily tailored for restoration. A more detailed comparison can be found here.

The Process

07:00 AM – 10:30 AM

Vehicle Drop-Off

You can drop your vehicle off either to our shop or one of our partnering dealerships. Our shop opens at 9:00 AM, however, if you want to drop it off earlier, our partnering dealerships can be a better option. The service department of most dealerships open at 7:00 AM. If you drop your vehicle off before 10:30 AM – or at least before the noontime – we can finish the RestorFX® clear coat application the same day and leave it to cure for an overnight. However, if you bring your car after noontime, we need an extra day for curing.

10:30 AM – 06:30 PM

RestorFX® Process (~8 hours)

On an average vehicle, the process usually takes 7 to 12 hours, depending on the size and design of the vehicle and roughness of the paint. RestorFX® is a professional system and the application is performed by Certified Technicians.

06:30 PM – 09:00 AM

Overnight Curing (~14 hours)

RestorFX® is a two-component clear coat. Curing starts when two components are mixed and completes with time and temperature. After the application, we keep your vehicle at our climatized shop for one night and let it complete at least 80% of its curing. This initial curing is needed before exposing the vehicle to outdoor conditions.

09:00 AM – 10:00 AM

Quality Control and Finishing (1 hour)

Quality control, final refinishing, and paint touch-up are done the the next day.

10:00 AM or Later

Vehicle Pick-Up

You can pick up your vehicle from the shop or partnering dealership.
